AJC presents Lazarus Award to Outstanding Mariemont HS Volunteer
MARIEMONT, OH (FOX19) - Mariemont High School junior Sarah Blatt-Herold was named a finalist for the American Jewish Committee’s 48th annual Simon Lazarus Jr. Human Relations Awards at Rockdale Temple.
Energetic and devoted volunteers from 36 high schools received awards for their work campaigning for good causes and organizing their classmates in compassionate service.
Sarah helped organize Kindness Retreats for district 5th graders and is a leader among her classmates as well as younger students. Sarah organized a book drive to benefit less privileged schools, sorted donated clothing and food for people abroad, and has planned a 5K race, handling all of the details with skill. “Sarah is a motivated young lady who is making a difference and is committed to helping others,” said Amanda Leszczuk, Mariemont High School counselor. “Sarah is committed to good causes while growing aware of how lucky she is.”
