CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Join us at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County as we celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month with a guest lecture by Carmi Neiger at the Main Library Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m. in the Genealogy & Local History Program Space on the third floor.

96-year-old Reds fan throws first pitch

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Ruth Watkins is not your average senior citizen.

At the age of 96, she rides on the back of motorcycles, and being a big Cincinnati Reds fan, she even plays a little baseball.

"I don't have a season pass or anything like that, but over the years I've been to many, many, many games," said Ruth.

Instead of just watching the Reds from the stands like she has for more than 70 years, Ruth went on a new adventure.

"Let's talk Crosley Field... I sent a picture in to the Reds, and they chose to have me come," she said.

She sent a picture of herself, Rosie the Red, Mildred Kincaid and Betty Clancy from the Twin Lakes Baseball Barbecue picnic last summer to the Reds. The Reds later called her to invite her to their May 8 game against the Braves to throw the first pitch.

On Wednesday, she did just that. It was an honor she says that made her quite popular.

UC Blue Ash College expands space for students

UC Blue Ash College expands space for students

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - Students at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College have a lot of new space to study, meet with friends, or relax between classes.  The college opened the new Bleecker Street Café and Student Commons this week, to coincide with the beginning of the summer semester.

The new additions cover 7,000 square feet and mark completion of the second portion of a $4.5 million renovation project at Muntz Hall.  This phase addresses the need to provide more space for the growing student population, while also enhancing the food options on campus.

“This new space is designed with our students, faculty and staff in mind,” said Dr. Cady Short-Thompson, Dean of UC Blue Ash.  “We wanted to provide new, inviting and comfortable space where people can come together to meet, study or just take a break from a busy day.  I believe this addition will really help transform our campus.”
