Woman accused of setting home on fire with daughter inside

SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH (FOX19)- A Springfield Township woman is arrested after police say she set fire to a Seven Hills home, trapping her 11-year old daughter inside.

Inger Smith, 40, is facing arson and child endangering charges following the incident.

Her bond was set at $20,000 during an arraignment Wednesday morning.

Saturn-day Saturday at the Cincinnati Observatory

MOUNT LOOKOUT, OH (FOX19) - Saturn takes center stage at the Cincinnati Observatory on Saturday, May 18 from 9pm - 11pm for Saturn-day. 

There will be viewing of Saturn through the historic 1845 and 1904 telescopes (weather permitting), running talks, and tours of the buildings.  If clear, portable telescopes will be set up outside to show visitors the Moon and stars as well.   

Reservations are not required to participate in Saturn-day. The cost for admission is $7 dollars per person and drop-ins are welcome.

Metal pallets stolen from Blue Ash company

Metal pallets stolen from Blue Ash company

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19)- The Blue Ash Police are investigating the theft of stainless steel metal pallets stolen from the
Wornick Company on Kenwood Road.

The thefts occurred between May 6 and May 12 of this year and the value is over $10,000. 

Surveillance photos show a black (possibly Dodge) truck with faded paint on the hood and a red pinstripe and the driver and passenger of the vehicle. 

Anyone who can identify these subjects should contact Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.

AJC presents Lazarus Award to Outstanding Mariemont HS Volunteer

MARIEMONT, OH (FOX19) - Mariemont High School junior Sarah Blatt-Herold was named a finalist for the American Jewish Committee’s 48th annual Simon Lazarus Jr. Human Relations Awards at Rockdale Temple.

Energetic and devoted volunteers from 36 high schools received awards for their work campaigning for good causes and organizing their classmates in compassionate service.

Sarah helped organize Kindness Retreats for district 5th graders and is a leader among her classmates as well as younger students. Sarah organized a book drive to benefit less privileged schools, sorted donated clothing and food for people abroad, and has planned a 5K race, handling all of the details with skill.  “Sarah is a motivated young lady who is making a difference and is committed to helping others,” said Amanda Leszczuk, Mariemont High School counselor. “Sarah is committed to good causes while growing aware of how lucky she is.”

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Archbishop Moeller High School Varsity Rugby team will be hosting Indian Springs for the Regional Final on Saturday, May 18, match at 5pm, at Moeller High School, located at 9001 Montgomery Road.

This event features high school players from two high profile rugby programs.  Come and watch as the 2012 defending State Runner-Up Champions, Moeller Crusaders, as they host Indian Spring.

 

Match times are:  4PM – Gate Opens at Gerry Faust Athletic Complex

                                5PM – Match begins

Grand opening of new women's clothing and accessory shop

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A grand opening planned at Kenwood Towne Centre will include live painting and limited edition and mystery gifts.

Lily Pulitzer is a women's wear shop that features clothing and other such wares featuring bright, colorful, floral prints.

The grand opening on Saturday, May 18 from 10am - 9pm will feature Lily Pulitzer deigners doing live paintings, mystery gifts for the first 50 shoppers and limited edition gifts including a printed bangle and tote bag.

Clothing made by designer Lily Pulitzer has been worn by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Caroline Kennedy, and members of the Rockefeller and Vanderbilt families. Lily Pulitzer passes away at her home in Palm Beach, FL in April 2013.

The Lily Pulitzer store in Kenwood Mall will be located on the upper level near Macy's.
