AAA grants Community Traffic Safety Awards at several levels, with platinum being the highest. This award is given to communities that demonstrate outstanding success in addressing local traffic safety issues.
AAA recognized the City's efforts toward improving motorist, pedestrian, and bicyclist safety, including construction of off-road paths and improvements to pedestrian signals at intersections; installation of battery backup systems at traffic signals; and installation of emergency vehicle pre-emption systems at intersections along Kenwood Road.
The Police Department was recognized for its efforts to improve traffic safety, including education sessions for elementary schoolchildren, high school students, competitive runners, and seniors; serving as the coordinating agency for the Hamilton County OVI Task Force; and conducting enhanced OVI enforcement, including checkpoints and patrols.
This is the third year in a row that the City of Blue Ash has received a Platinum Community Traffic Safety Award.
