BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - Matthew 25: Ministries, an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization headquartered at 11060 Kenwood Road in Blue Ash, will be distributing thousands of winter coats to local partner organizations as part of Matthew 25’s ongoing efforts to provide basic necessities and humanitarian aid to the needy in Greater Cincinnati.

Approximately one in four people in Cincinnati live below the poverty line and many families throughout the area are struggling to make ends meet. Nearly 50% of children in Cincinnati live in poverty. Matthew 25: Ministries’ Winter Coat Distribution will help meet people’s basic needs and position them to overcome their current financial difficulties.

“We are hoping to provide jackets to as many homeless, less fortunate and needy families in Greater Cincinnati during this upcoming winter as possible,” says Tim Mettey, Vice President and Disaster Relief Coordinator of Matthew 25: Ministries. “We want to ensure that every man, woman, and child in the area – regardless of income level – will be prepared for the cold months ahead." Matthew 25: Ministries will distribute coats to the Drop Inn Center, St. Vincent DePaul and other local partners on Monday, January 16.  Matthew 25 feels that distributing coats on Martin Luther King Day is an appropriate acknowledgement of Martin Luther King’s passionate concern for human dignity.  Matthew 25 encourages local churches, schools, non-profit organizations, charities and shelters that service local low-income populations to contact Matthew 25: Ministries prior to January 16 to schedule a pick-up time.

Coats will be distributed to partner organizations only.  Individuals in need of coats should contact these partner organizations.

In 2011, Matthew 25: Ministries distributed more than 13 million pounds of humanitarian aid and disaster relief to partners in Greater Cincinnati, throughout the United States, and around the world. These products helped over 15 million people in need.
