Hyde Park Branch Library to celebrate 100 years of service | Community Spirit

HYDE PARK, OH (FOX19) - The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County invites the public to join the staff of the Hyde Park Branch Library in celebrating 100 years of service to the community with a variety of activities from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4.
The celebration kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with the Frisch Marionettes. Then at 11:30, popcorn, balloons and temporary tattoos will be handed out in the Children’s Room.
There will be speakers and refreshments at 12:30. Special guests include Hamilton County Commissioners Todd Portune and Chris Monzel, Hyde Park Community Council President Janet Buening, Library Board President Robert G. Hendon, and Kimber L. Fender, the Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director of the Library.
At 2 p.m. there will be a slide presentation on Carnegie Libraries of Ohio, which Hyde Park is one, by author Mary Ellen Armentrout. At 3:30 p.m. origami wizard Jonathan Heart will present a family program.
To mark the 100th anniversary of Hyde Park’s branch, The Library Foundation is selling commemorative bricks. The bricks are engraved with the name(s) of the donor(s) and will be placed in Hyde Park’s entrance hallway. Funds raised by brick sales will go towards renovating the historic Carnegie building.
