SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) – The ex-boyfriend of a Kenwood woman and a second man have been charged with taking copper from the woman’s home - while she was there - during a daylight burglary Thursday morning.
Chief Deputy Sean Donovan of the Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Casey T. Turner of Liberty Township and 32-year-old Christopher A. Baker of Linwood showed up between 9 and 9:20 a.m. at the home on Kenwood Road. Around 9:25 the woman who lived there saw a car in the driveway that didn’t belong there and called police.
When deputies got there, they decided the pair had been removing copper pipe from the home, with some of it stacked up on the back patio.
The Sheriff’s office says Baker was arrested in the driveway with a hacksaw in his hand, while Turner ran east into the woods behind the home.
For reasons unknown to the deputies, he came back out of the woods 45 minutes later and was arrested inside the home.
Turner is the estranged boyfriend of the victim, had been gone at least three weeks, and was not allowed back in the home.
Both were charged with Burglary (a 2nd degree felony) and Vandalism (a 5th degree felony.) They were jailed in the Justice Center to wait for arraignment.
