DELAWARE, OH (FOX19) - A 19-year-old Loveland woman who was studying at Kent State University died Tuesday afternoon after a work van careened across multiple lanes of traffic and grassy areas before hitting her car.
Rachael Carlina Woodruff was leaving a rest stop on southbound 71 in Delaware County when her car was hit.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 32-year-old Joshua Morris of Streetsboro, OH, outside Akron, who was driving the 2006 Chevy cargo van for the Dara Toy Company, became distracted while using a cell phone.
He lost control, with the van leaving the northbound lanes, crossing the median, crossing all three southbound lanes, crossing the berm, and crossing a lane in the rest stop before hitting her car.
Video showed from the scene showed her car was hit in the driver's side. Woodruff was taken to Grant Hospital in Columbus where she later died from her injuries.
