Fashion show benefits groups fighting depression and suicide

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - On March 21 at 6 p.m., Sycamore High School students will host Fashion for the Cure to benefit To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit dedicated to finding help for people struggling with depression, and the Cincinnati chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide and reaching out to people with mental disorders.

The event will feature Sycamore High School students and staff members modeling student-designed garments and formal wear from local retailers.

Sponsored by Bridal and Formal, the show will include a raffle and silent auction for items including an iPad 2, a Samsung 19-inch flat screen TV, a spa package from Mitchell’s Salon and Day Spa, gift cards to area restaurants, two airlines tickets to New York City, a Bengals jersey signed by Andy Dalton, a nutrition package from Lavalle Metabolic Institute and hundreds of other items.  Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event.

“I am so proud of our students and staff for continually reaching out to support others in need,” said Adrienne C. James, Ed.D., superintendent.  “Fashion for the Cure is one of many student-run events that show our students are not only talented young adults, but also caring individuals who can come together and make a difference.”

Event tickets can be purchased at the door for $10; a ticket plus an event t-shirt is $15. VIP tickets, which include a gift bag, t-shirt and preferred seating, are $50.

The fashion show will be held at Sycamore High School, 7400 Cornell Road.
