Saturn-day Saturday at the Cincinnati Observatory

MOUNT LOOKOUT, OH (FOX19) - Saturn takes center stage at the Cincinnati Observatory on Saturday, May 18 from 9pm - 11pm for Saturn-day. 

There will be viewing of Saturn through the historic 1845 and 1904 telescopes (weather permitting), running talks, and tours of the buildings.  If clear, portable telescopes will be set up outside to show visitors the Moon and stars as well.   

Reservations are not required to participate in Saturn-day. The cost for admission is $7 dollars per person and drop-ins are welcome.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Elmo will be making an appearance at the Anderson Branch Library at 2 p.m. Friday,
May 17, prior to the performances of Sesame Street Live “Elmo’s Super Heroes" at the U.S. Bank Arena.

Public Library holds Fine Amnesty Day May 15

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - On May 8 the Public Library received a National Medal for Library Service from the Institute for Museum and Library Service. This award is the nation’s highest honor recognizing museums and libraries for their service to the community.

To celebrate this national recognition and thank our community for their support, we're holding a Fine Amnesty Day on Wednesday, May 15. During Fine Amnesty Day, outstanding fines will be removed from library cards. The fines may be the result of items returned prior to or on May 15.

Indian Hill High School seniors hosting free E-Waste recycling event

INDIAN HILL, OH (FOX19) - The Indian Hill High School parking lot will be the site of an e-recycling event set to happen on Saturday, May 11.

Three Indian Hill High School students are hosting a community e-waste collection drive as a part of  their IHHS internship.

E-recycling of items like computers, tablets, computer accesories, batteries, speakers, etc. will be accepted from 9am - 1pm.

Indian Hill High School/Middle School is located at 6865 Drake Road.

 

 

 

Free dental care in three seperate locations on Saturday

Free dental care in three seperate locations on Saturday

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - Three local dentists are offering free services on Saturday, May 11 for the annual Dentistry From The Heart event.

More than 500 residents are expected to line up as early as 5am to receive free dental care.

Dr. Rachelle Boudreau, Dr. Eric Henize and Dr. Thomas Phillips along with volunteers and sponsors will give free extractions, fillings and cleanings.

Dentistry from the Heart will take place in three locations:

Dr. Rachelle Boudreau is located at 11333 Springfield Pike; Dr. Eric Henize is located at 4723 Cornell Road and Dr. Thomas Phillips is located at 2131 Beechmont Avenue.

Since its inception in 2001, Denistry From The Heart has grown to include over 200 annual events nationwide and provided more than 45,000 people with free dental care.

Celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month at Main Library

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Join us at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County as we celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month with a guest lecture by Carmi Neiger at the Main Library Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m. in the Genealogy & Local History Program Space on the third floor.

Neiger, an assistant professor at Elmhurst College in Illinois, will speak on the topic “Cohens on the Move: Jewish Neighborhood Dynamics in Cincinnati, 1940-1990.” His lecture asks the question: “What constitutes a Jewish neighborhood?”
