BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is teaming up with the Blue Ash LaRosa’s restaurant to raise funds for students who are traveling to Guadeloupe this spring as part of an International Service Learning Project coordinated by the college.
If you present a special UC Blue Ash/LaRosa’s voucher when you visit the LaRosa’s in Blue Ash (4836 Cooper Road in downtown Blue Ash) on January 23 or 24, twenty-five percent of the proceeds will go to UC Blue Ash College students participating in the project.
Eight students are participating in an International Service Learning course during the spring semester at UC Blue Ash. A key component of the class is traveling to Guadeloupe in the French West Indies over spring break to help with service projects that include teaching elementary school children and cultivating gardens.
The brave students will also give up their cell phones, laptops and most other electronic devices during the week. “There really is no cell coverage on the part of the island where the students will be based, so we will be without much of the technology we rely on every day,” said Leslie Elrod, a UC Blue Ash College professor who is leading the project along with her colleague, Jody Ballah, a French Professor at the college.
You can print a copy of the voucher from the web at www.ucblueash.edu/news or visit the One-Stop Center on the college campus to pick some up.
