Pres. Obama campaign office opens in Cincinnati | News

EAST WALNUT HILLS, OH (FOX19)- Organizing for America-Ohio opened its first campaign office for President Barack Obama in Cincinnati.

Along with field offices in Parma, Columbus, Middletown, Dayton, Shaker Heights and Chillicothe, the new Cincinnati office will serve as a community hub for 2012 election activities.

Campaign volunteers like Veronica Smoke are gearing up to reach out to Cincinnati's 52 neighborhoods to get out the vote and push Obama's policies for another four years.

"We need to have an impact in the community. It's very important that we start early so we can get our message across to the people in the community," says Smoke.

Since the launch of the President's re-election campaign, OFA-Ohio volunteers have reached out to more than 508,000 Ohioans at their doors and over the phone, and have been organizing in their communities with more than 5,000 grassroots planning sessions, house parties, voter registration drives, phone banks and canvasses.

From now until November 2012, OFA volunteers will engage millions of Ohio voters in personal, neighbor-to-neighbor conversations about the President's campaign. 

The timing does not surprise Hamilton County Republican Charlie Norman.

"It's not accidental that they're here at this time. I think Republican candidates and their message is starting to gain some traction in this state," says Norman.

The office will remain open seven days a week at 2718 Woodburn Avenue in East Walnut Hills until Election Day.
