MOUNT LOOKOUT, OH (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Observatory has undertaken a bold program to award 100 quality telescopes and training for 100 teams to become astronomy ambassadors and further astronomy education in the Cincinnati area.
To date 80 graduates of this NASA-funded program with 80 telescopes have reached over 23,000 people in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana and conducted over 448 events. We have 20 more telescopes to award this year, but you have to hurry.
To become a Future Galileo 2012 and get your own telescope, you must develop a plan to reach a wide and diverse audience with your telescope and apply by March 31.
Application forms are available online. For more visit: http://www.cincinnatiobservatory.org/futuregalileos.html
Astronomer Dean Regas is also available to bring an example of one of these large scopes into the studio to show your staff and viewers. Or the Observatory welcomes you to visit them for an on-site spot.
