Police: Thief stole hamburger, chicken from restaurant

Loveland Police are looking for a suspect who stole food and sports memorabilia from a popular restaurant.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. May 16 at The Works Restaurant in Loveland.

Taken in the offense was the following property: 

  • Loveland High School Baseball signed by the team
  • Antique railroad lantern
  • 60 lbs diced chicken
  • 50 lbs hamburger
  • Signed NFL football by Icky Woods & Eric Thomas
  • Signed NFL football by Ray Maualuga
  • Signed NFL football by John Jackson
  • Mitsubishi Projector TV
  • Undisclosed amount of cash

Retired Cincinnati and Dayton area priest dies at 80

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A retired pastor, educator, and chaplain whose work took him to Norwood, Reading, Westwood, Rossmoyne, Mt. airy, and the Dayton area died on Sunday, May 22.

Rev. Leo A. Hoying was 80. 

Fr. Hoying was born on July 10, 1930 in St. Patrick, Ohio. He did his preparatory studies at St. Gregory Seminary and studied theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West in Norwood. He was ordained on May 26, 1956 at St. Monica Cathedral in Cincinnati by then-Archbishop Karl J. Alter.

On June 1, 1956, Fr. Hoying received his first assignment as assistant at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Norwood. He was also an assistant at the following parishes: St. Saviour, Rossmoyne (1961-1964); St. Catharine of Siena, Cincinnati (1964-1968); Holy Rosary, St. Marys (1968-1972) and St. Raphael, Springfield (1972-1974).

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) – The annual Blue Ash Business Bash was held at the Blue Ash Recreation Center on Thursday, May 19, 2011. Twenty-four businesses helped sponsor the event, filling the main hallway and café of the facility with a variety of food and drink samples, promotional materials, and information about the various businesses. Complimentary tours of the facility were conducted, along with live entertainment by "FireLight".

Restaurants included Buffalo Wild Wings, City Barbeque, Donato's Pizza, McAlister's Deli, Parker's Blue Ash Grill, Slatts, Jimmy John's, Blue Ash Café, Servatii's, Costco and InCahoots. Business Expo Booths exhibited Cincinnati Eye Institute Foundation, Cincy Magazine, Duke Realty, SellPakShip, Gazebo Tea Room, Trendz Salon, Prudential One Realtors and PNC Bank.

LOVELAND, OH (FOX19) - The classmates and family of Elizabeth Shuler will be honoring her memory this Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m., by planting a tree in front of Loveland Primary School with a plaque in her memory.  The Red Bud tree was donated by Marvin's organic garden and a plaque in Elizabeth's honor was also donated. Elizabeth's family, classmates, and teachers will be at the memorial ceremony. Elizabeth has three siblings in the district.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Local agency ready to assist victims of Missouri tornado

A local humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization is standing by to assist victims of a tornado in Joplin, Missouri.

Matthew 25: Ministries in Blue Ash is working to assess the damage of this disaster and the needs of the victims.  Matthew 25: Ministries will be launching disaster relief efforts immediately once partners are ready to receive shipments.

The organization also sent shipments to the victims of the tornadoes in Alabama.

At least 89 people have died as a result of the tornado in Joplin, Mo., and that number is expected to climb.  As much as 25 to 30 percent of Joplin may have been damaged or destroyed. 

Sycamore board, teachers agree to contract that includes salary freeze

The Sycamore Board of Education has approved a 1-year collective bargaining agreement with the Sycamore Education Association.

SEA represents approximately 449 employees, including teachers, guidance counselors, school nurses and media specialists.  SEA ratified the agreement on May 16.       

The terms of the contract include a salary freeze for the 2011-12 school year, including no wage adjustments for longevity. 

"The cohesive and professional collaboration between members of SEA and the district are evident in this agreement," said Diane Adamec, Sycamore Board of Education president.  "The outcome is good for everyone in the district including taxpayers, staff and students."

During their May 18 meeting, the Board also approved a resolution stating that administrators' salaries will not increase in 2011-12.

Kenwood Towne Center to get newly remodeled Disney Store

The Kenwood Towne Center is getting the first newly-designed Disney Store in Ohio.

By the end of 2011, the specialty retailer will have 60 new concept stores in 16 major markets in North America and eight countries.

In spring 2012, the original Disney Store location at the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, Calif., will be remodeled to celebrate the retail chain's 25th anniversary. First built in 1987, the store pioneered the entertainment retail concept. The Glendale store will be just one of many planned remodels in 2012.

The Kenwood location will open in fall or winter of 2011.

Previous Disney store locations in the Tri-State have all closed. There is no word if those locations will reopen.
