OVI checkpoint planned for Columbia-Tusculum, Milford

OVI checkpoint planned for Friday evening in Columbia-Tusculum.

(FOX19)- The Hamilton County OVI Task Force announced that two checkpoints are planned for this weekend in the Tri-State.

On Friday, a checkpoint will be held in Columbia-Tusculum in the 400 block of Delta Avenue, lasting from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Additionally, an OVI checkpoint will also be set up on Saturday in Milford. The exact location and time has not yet been released.

Police are reminding individuals who plan on consuming
alcohol to find a designated driver or make other travel arrangements before
drinking.

All Sycamore K-6 buildings are engaging students, staff and parents to help reduce lunch room waste through Waste-less Lunches. 

Mariemont City Schools names new superintendent

Mariemont City Schools names Steven Estepp to serve as superintendent.

MARIEMONT, OH (FOX19)- The Mariemont Board of Education announced the selection of the district's new superintendent.

Steven Estepp will be formally appointed to the position at a board meeting on April 23 at Mariemont Elementary School.

The district's former superintendent, Paul Imhoff, accepted an offer to serve as superintendent of the Upper Arlington City School district, a suburb of Columbus, beginning the 2013-14 academic year.

Estepp comes from the Hilliard City School district, having served as the executive director of K-12 curriculum & instruction.

Cheers To Art opening at Gateway Quarter in OTR

OVER-THE-RHINE, OH (FOX19) - Owners of the popular art entratainment studio 'Cheers To Art' are set to open a second Cincinnati location at the entrance to the Gateway Quarter.

Jill and Michael Carroll opened the first location in Madeira two years ago at the corner of Camargo and Miami Roads.

Cheers To Art will occupy the space in the “Jim Tarbell” building on the corner of Central and Vine in Over the Rhine.

There will be a grand opening/open house on Wednesday, May 1 from 4 pm – 7 pm at the OTR/Downtown studio. The celebration will include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 pm with drinks and light appetizers.

Cheers to Art offers ʻart as entertainmentʼ in a creative, upscale environment. The concept incorporates acrylic canvas painting, a bar offering wine and beer, energetic music and simple step-by-step painting instruction, so particiapants do not have to have any experience to have a great time.

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is announcing the winners of the 2013 Distinguished Awards.

The UC Blue Ash College Distinguished Awards Ceremony, which has become an anticipated annual tradition, was held on April 12 on the UC Blue Ash campus. The awards recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of the college’s leading alumni, faculty and staff.

Julie Harrison Calvert 

After helping revive the Student Government organization at UC Blue Ash, Julie Harrison Calvert went on to earn bachelor’s degrees in English and Journalism.  After starting her career as a newspaper reporter she moved into public relations and today serves as the Vice President of Communications and Strategic Development for the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Traffic moving again after crash on NB I-71 near I-275

MONTGOMERY, OH (FOX19)- Traffic is moving again after an accident on Northbound I-71 just before I-275 in Montgomery.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. All lanes were closed, then crews opened up one lane before shutting down all lanes again.

It appears the accident involved a tractor trailer and a pick up truck hauling a camper.

One person was sent to the hospital. Their name and condition are unknown.

CANCELED: CEO, author Vickie Stringer's visit to Main Library

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Due to a family obligation, Triple Crown publisher and author Vickie Stringer had to cancel her April 28 appearance at the Main Library.

At this time there are no plans to reschedule the event.

The Public Library is sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, but invites the public to come to other upcoming author events, including Ohioana on April 21, Comic Con on May 5, author Patricia Schultz on May 11, and author Khaled Hosseini on May 31.
