Peddling under the soft rays of morning sun, Dylan Tennison winds down Cincinnati’s Central Parkway, his red Raleigh bicycle and deep brown eyes gleaming. Heading downtown to his garden plot, his long chestnut hair is tied, a single loose strand whipping behind his head.

Woman celebrates 90th birthday by riding Kings Island coaster

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Mount Lookout resident Thelma Gratsh took the plunge Friday on the Diamondback roller coaster at Kings Island.

Thelma celebrated her 90th birthday by taking a ride on her favorite roller coaster, Diamondback.

Thelma estimates she has ridden Diamondback more than 100 times since the ride opened in 2009.  

She has had a season pass to Kings Island every year since they were introduced in 1979 and is believed to be the oldest park guest to have taken a ride on the 230-foot tall steel roller coaster, which reaches speeds up to 80 miles per hour.

Cincinnati Film Festival, Main Library host premiere film screening

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Film Festival is premiering "Shining Night: A Portrait of Composer Morten Lauridsen" during the second week of the 2012 World Choir Games at 7 p.m. Monday, July 9, in the atrium at the Reading Garden Lounge of the Main Library, 800 Vine Street.

This screening is presented in partnership with the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, Interkultur, and Song Without Borders.

The film is a documentary about renowned choral music composer Morten Lauridsen who, along with the film’s director/producer Michael Stillwater, will be attending. The film will be followed with a live, post-film Q&A with Lauridsen and Stillwater.

This event is free and open to all ages and will also be simulcast at the 20th Century Theater in Oakley, with the Q&A presented on screen via Skype after the film.

Morten Lauridsen is a celebrated composer and 2007 Medal of Arts recipient.

Fraternal Order of Eagles chapter donates funds to Norwood Branch Library

NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) - The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County recently received a donation for the Norwood Branch Library from the Norwood Eagles (Ladies Auxiliary 449), a local chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

The Ladies Auxiliary gave the library $155, of which $100 was from fundraisers and the additional $55 from the president’s fund.

“Each year the president picks one charity to give extra money to, and we were it this year,” said Branch Manager Tina Riehle.

The Norwood Eagles have the longest standing tradition of donations in the library system, said Riehle.
