August opening planned for Chuy's in Madeira

MADEIRA, OH (FOX19) - Chuy’s expansion in the Greater Cincinnati area will continue when the Tex-Mex style restaurant opens on August 20 at 7980 Hosbrook Road in Madeira, just a few blocks from the Kenwood Towne Center in the former Chi-nnati’s Pizza location.

The new location is Chuy’s first in Ohio and second in the region – joining the Florence, Ky. restaurant that opened in November 2012. The Austin, Texas-based restaurant is known for its authentic, fresh Tex-Mex and eclectic décor, featuring hand-painted wooden fish, a hubcap room and Elvis Presley Shrine.

“Chuy’s combines a fun, laid back atmosphere with homemade and affordable menu options, creating a unique dining experience for the community,” said Ron Carson, local owner/operator of Chuy’s Cincinnati. “Our new location near the Kenwood Towne Center is a great lunch stop for shoppers and employees, while remaining the ideal dinner setting for families.”

Chi-nnati's moving out, Chuy's Mexican restaurant moving into Madeira

MADEIRA, OH (FOX19) - Chi-nnati's Pizza is closing their restaurant in Madeira and is currently searching for a new space.

An announcement of the move is currently scrolling across Chi-nnati's website.

Chuy's is also located in Florence, KY and their manager confirmed for FOX19 theat Chuy's in Madeira should open around Labor Day.

The last day of business for Chi-nnati's is Sunday, May 5.

Fundraiser to benefit head & neck cancer research

MARIEMONT, OH (FOX19) - The National Exemplar will host a special fundraising dinner to benefit a very worthy cause -- The Brandon C. Gromada Head & Neck Cancer Foundation.

Brandon was a long-time friend and colleague at The National Exemplar and its staff.

The National Exemplar will host the event from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 in the main dining room at 6880 Wooster Pike in Mariemont. All profits from the evening from both dine-in and carry out orders will go to the Foundation.

Jersey Mike's helping make a difference for local children attending the YMCA

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - All local Jersey Mike’s restaurants will donate 100 percent of Wednesday's sales to help the Y help those who need it most in our community.

“The money raised will provide scholarships to help kids learn how to swim, provide them with a healthy lunch, and help families achieve their health and wellness goals,” said YMCA of Greater Cincinnati President and Chief Executive Officer Sandy Walker.

The Month of Giving campaign in 2012 raised nearly $858,000 for 74 different charities nationwide. “I would like to extend a personal invitation to come in and enjoy a Jersey Mike’s sub during our Month of Giving in support of your local YMCA,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO. “The opportunities to give are all around us, so we hope this March, you will join us to make a difference in someone’s life.”

Chef Alfio Gulisano appears on FOX19 Morning News

HYDE PARK, OH (FOX19) - "The menu is modern Italian with an Argentine flair," says Alfio Gulisano; owner and executive chef of Alfio’s buon cibo in Hyde Park Square.

Alfio, former executive chef at Bella Luna, has taken an idea first discussed a year and half ago with partner Scott Lambert, and turned it into a reality.

Alfio’s buon cibo is a dinner serve restaurant that is open Monday through Saturday from 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Alfio's is closed on Sunday's.

The partners were more than happy to land a spot in Hyde Park Square with Lambert citing "the atmosphere, the area, and the energy in Hyde Park Square."

Newtown restaurant catches fire overnight

NEWTOWN, OH (FOX19) - An investigation is underway after a popular restaurant caught fire early Friday morning.

Fire crews were called to the Iron Skillet around 12:30 a.m.

Dispatchers believe the fire started in the kitchen but it is unclear how it actually started.

The restaurant was closed at the time and no injuries have been reported.

Free Yorks to Skyline Chili diners on Tuesday

(FOX19) - In honor of National Chocolate Mint Day, Skyline Chili diners will receive a minty treat with their menu purchase on Tuesday.

Dine-in customers will get a free York Peppermint Patty on Tuesday, February 19 with any meal.

“Our customers tell us one of the delights of the Skyline Chili experience is tradition,” said Sarah Sicking, director of marketing for Skyline Chili. “Some of these include making cracker bombs before the meal, wearing their special Skyline bib, talking with their favorite server and getting their York Peppermint Patty to end the meal. We want to honor our customers and their Skyline dining traditions by celebrating National Chocolate Mint Day with our Skyline Chili family.”
