New S&J Café officially opens with ribbon-cutting at the Main Library
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The latest addition to the Main Library isn’t a book or a video – it’s a café where customers can satisfy their hunger for a good book and a good pastry at the same time.
The S&J Café officially opened Nov. 14 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The café is operated by pastry chefs Stefan Skirtz and Andrew Johnston, owners of Skirtz & Johnston Bakery and Cafe at Historic Findlay Market. The two chefs have over 20 years of experience in the culinary and hospitality industries.
They started working together in 2006, when they trained at the Midwest Culinary Institute under celebrated pastry chef James Myatt. And they’ve continued their relationship with the Institute by hiring graduates and students.
“We hire pastry students to give them an opportunity to work in the pastry field. They fulfill their co-ops with us,” said Andrew Johnston.
