Precinct named to national top 100 restaurant list

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Jeff Ruby’s Precinct, the oldest fine dining restaurant in Cincinnati, has been named to the list of “Top 100 Best Overall Restaurants in the Nation” by OpenTable.com, an online restaurant reservation service. Opened in 1981 as the first restaurant for the award-winning restaurateur, Ruby, The Precinct is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and recently completed an expansion.

“These winners have proven they are at the top of their game every day, making certain that every aspect of a guest’s visit is both delicious and divine,” said Caroline Potter, chief dining officer of OpenTable. 

The top 100 were determined by more than 10 million reviews submitted by diners for more than 12,000 U.S. restaurants since December 2010. The honorees span 34 states and Washington, D.C. North Carolina tied the dining mecca of California with ten winning restaurants, while New York eateries claimed seven spots.

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19)-  On November 20th, Embers Restaurant will be sponsoring Operation Christmas Cheer with The Wounded Warrior Fund beginning at 5 PM and running through 9 PM. The event will be hosted in the expanded bar area of Embers.

The Fund has a goal of raising $15,000 to provide gift cards to our soldiers that have been wounded in Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. Embers Restaurant invites the general public to come and show support for all those who have sacrificed to keep the U.S.A free.

It is the mission of The Wounded Warrior Fund to provide support and comfort to our returning heroes. All future endeavors will depend on support from the community and from their members. 100% of all contributions will go directly to the soldier or their family and no funds will be used to cover administrative services.

Montgomery Inn celebrates 60 years in business

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati institution, Montgomery Inn, is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Montgomery Inn opened in 1951 and has been serving up their famous signature ribs and sauce to the delight of Cincinnatians ever since. What started as a small neighborhood bar has since grown into the most popular restaurant in Ohio, with fans the world over.

Ted and Matula Gregory opened Montgomery Inn on November 1st, 1951, rechristening the former “McCabe’s Inn” as the “Montgomery Inn.”  One night, Matula fixed barbecued ribs with her now-famous barbecue sauce, and everyone who tried them raved. Soon they were on the menu and the Gregorys were running a real restaurant. When a local restaurant critic dubbed Ted the “Ribs King,” history was in the making.

“We are so thankful to the Cincinnati community for their support,” said Dean Gregory, Montgomery Inn Vice President.

KENWOOD, OH (FOX19) - The Chick-fil-A® restaurant at Kenwood Towne Centre is hosting Customer Appreciation Day Thursday, November 3 to thank loyal customers and kick off the holiday season.

Special activities and giveaways for the day include hourly drawings for Chick-fil-A prizes, games and a free Chick-fil-A Icedream® sundae with every meal purchased.

The first 50 children to order a Kid’s Meal will receive a free miniature plush Chick-fil-A “Eat Mor Chikin®” Cow, and every 100th customer will receive their order for free.

Customer Appreciation Day will run from 10am-9pm.

KENWOOD, OH (FOX19) - T.G.I. Friday’s is hosting the Freestore Foodbank at the Franchise championship of Bartender Competitions at their Kenwood location on Wednesday, October 26 at 7pm.

T.G.I. Friday’s will donate all proceeds from the Bartender Championship finals to Freestore Foodbank. In addition, the evening will mark the kickoff of T.G.I. Friday’s 2nd Annual Can For a Fan Virtual Food Drive, in which Friday’s will donate one can of food to the Freestore Foodbank for each new Facebook fan EatAtTGIFriday’s page gets through December 31.

T.G.I. Friday’s has partnered with the Freestore Foodbank on several community efforts including the successful 2010 Can For A Fan donation and virtual food drive.
