Permanent art display set to debut at Mariemont High School

MARIEMONT, OH (FOX19) - The Mariemont High School Galleria Historica unveiling will occur on Wednesday, May 22 at 6pm.

More than 100 student-created history-themed works of art will be on permanent display, in a space made possible through the Mariemont School Foundation’s Make It Happen Fund.

The gallery is comprised of artwork created for Mr. Donald Books’ history classes over the past 25 years. Mr. Books first created the project to reach students that maybe were not that interested in history but had other artistic talents. When Mr. Books first started teaching, world history was an elective and only 13 students took the class.

He now teaches world history and European history part-time, and had about 50 students enrolled in his classes this year. When he was working full-time, he averaged 110 students a year.
