SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Sycamore Community Schools is expanding its online presence with the launch of a district Twitter account. The @SycamoreSchools Twitter feed will add to the district’s already established virtual community, which includes a YouTube channel, Flickr account and Facebook page.

“While the district will continue to communicate in traditional ways and through our website, online tools like Twitter allow us to be progressive as we communicate with our shareholders,” said Erika Daggett, chief information officer.

The Sycamore Twitter team includes 13 administrators across the district sharing first-hand, “breaking” news.  Learn more about Sycamore’s Twitter team here: http://www.sycamoreschools.org/twitterteam.html.

What can community members expect from Twitter that they don’t get on Facebook?

“We will continue to use Facebook to post important information about district events and programs, and this information will also be on Twitter,” noted Daggett.  “Twitter, however, will be more real-time and offer immediate insight into events.  Community members can expect live tweets and photos from school board meetings, sporting events, student performances, school programs and much more!”

Twitter also allows the district to reach an audience not already engaged on the district’s Facebook page.

Community members are also invited to join Sycamore for the virtual Twitter Launch Party on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. by visiting https://twitter.com/SycamoreSchools.

To participate in the party, individuals must have a personal twitter account. Followers who join the discussion and use the hashtag #SycamoreParty will be eligible to win one of six prize packages.
