BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College has announced their new Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs and new Director of Business Affairs. 

Dr. Greg Metz, of Wyoming, comes to UC Blue Ash from the University of Cincinnati main campus in Clifton after serving the past the past seven years as Assistant Director of the Center for First Year Experience and Learning Communities.  In his new role, he is the key point of contact for students, interacting with them daily to build on their academic success at UC Blue Ash. Dr. Metz is also leading efforts to weave the student affairs and academic affairs offerings of the college together seamlessly for students.

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is announcing the winners of the 2013 Distinguished Awards.

The UC Blue Ash College Distinguished Awards Ceremony, which has become an anticipated annual tradition, was held on April 12 on the UC Blue Ash campus. The awards recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of the college’s leading alumni, faculty and staff.

Julie Harrison Calvert 

After helping revive the Student Government organization at UC Blue Ash, Julie Harrison Calvert went on to earn bachelor’s degrees in English and Journalism.  After starting her career as a newspaper reporter she moved into public relations and today serves as the Vice President of Communications and Strategic Development for the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Ursuline "Run for the Lions" supports students

Ursuline "Run for the Lions" supports students

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - Ursuline Academy's 5th annual "Run for the Lions" on Sunday, April 21 is open to all runners and walkers regardless of age and fitness level.

The run begins at 8:30am and there will also be a mass at 7:30am for anyone interested.

Awards will be given for different age categories; breakfast, awards and live music will follow run.  All pre-paid registrants will receive goodie bag, t-shirt and complimentary breakfast after race.

Blue Ash Elementary hosting Family Literacy Night

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - To help parents promote literacy at home, Blue Ash Elementary will host a Family Literacy Night on April 25 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the school.

“Parents want to help their children become better readers,” said Melissa Ostrowski, Blue Ash fourth-grade teacher. “Family Literacy Night will allow families to participate in fun, engaging, literacy-focused activities together so they can take ideas and implement them in their homes.”

Activities include interactive reading, fun with poetry, scavenger hunts, crafts, technology applications and more.  Attendees will also enjoy free pizza and every student will receive a free book.

The pizza dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and literacy activities run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

'Pippin' presented as final production of the school year at Sycamore

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - In its final production of the year, Sycamore High School’s award-winning Aves Theatre will present the comedic coming-of-age musical “Pippin” on April 18-20. Written by Steven Schwartz, the composer of other popular musicals such as “Wicked”, “Pippin” was originally produced on Broadway in 1973 and is currently enjoying a revival in New York, as well as on the stage at SHS.

“Aves Theatre’s production features senior Emily Kissela as the Narrator and freshman Alex Montchai in his Aves Theatre debut as Pippin,” said John Whapham, SHS drama teacher and theatre director.  “The show uses the premise of a mysterious performing troupe led by a villainous narrator to tell the story of a young man seeking fulfillment in his life.”

The musical offers subtle lessons of family values, portrayed through the cautionary tale of a young man running amuck.

MARIEMONT, OH (FOX19) - The Mariemont Board of Education announced on Thursday the final two candidates for the superintendent of schools position.

The candidates are Steven Estepp, executive director of K-12 curriculum & instruction of Hilliard City Schools and Frank Forsthoefel, assistant superintendent of Sycamore Community Schools. Early next week each candidate will spend time in the school district, meeting with administrators, staff, students, parents and community members.
