Seven Sycamore students head to state math competition
SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Ten students from Sycamore Junior High Schools’ Math Club participated in the annual Cincinnati Chapter MathCounts Competition last month at the University of Cincinnati.
Seven of those students scored high enough during the chapter competition to secure a trip to the state competition on Saturday, March 9 at Columbus State Community College.
Sycamore Junior High’s Math Club consists of approximately 35 students. In order to be selected to participate in the Cincinnati Chapter MathCounts competition, students must pass a series of tests that are administered in January. Once at the chapter event, more than 300 students from 42 Cincinnati schools vie for top honors in the annual event that tests students’ mathematic skills in a competitive environment.
