SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Friendship, brotherhood, and humanitarianism: The Marvin Rammelsberg Distinguished School Counselor Award is bestowed by the Greater Cincinnati Counseling Association upon a person who best exemplifies those qualities.

In addition, a candidate for the award must be dedicated to all, regardless of their individual differences; must actively promote school counseling; and must display exemplary leadership qualities.

Vince Rahnfeld, Sycamore High School counseling supervisor, does all that and more, according to Brent Richardson, chair of the Xavier University Counseling Department where Rahnfeld is an adjunct professor. Moeller ice hockey coach reaches 200 wins

MONTGOMERY, OH (FOX19) - Moeller Ice Hockey Coach Mike Reeder reached a milestone over the weekend in his 10th season with the school.

Coach Reeder won his 200th game on Saturday, January 27, 2013 with a 6-3 victory over Dublin Coffman.

“When I joined the program, I never thought I would still be here 10 seasons later. I never even considered this win and how it would feel, it seemed so far off in the future. I think back to how much I have experienced over the last 10 years. There have been a lot of changes in amateur hockey in Cincinnati and the rest of the state. There were a couple of people who have been with me from the beginning. I guess I would say I will treasure the relationships that I have made with the coaches, players, the staff at Moeller, and all those who are a part of each and every one of those 200 victories."

Sycamore Community students putting science knowledge on display

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Ever wondered which brand of paper towels absorbs liquid the best?  Want to know what type of windmill would work best in Cincinnati?  Or maybe you want to know if color affects a person’s blood pressure?

Answers to these questions and more will be provided by Sycamore Community Schools student scientists when they display their knowledge, creativity and scientific skills during the 2013 Sycamore Science Fair on Jan. 26 at Sycamore High School, 7400 Cornell Road.

And not only are the projects impressive, but it is impressive that the students complete their research and projects completely outside the school day.

“The fantastic projects our students are doing for our science fair are not part of a class,” explained Beth Quinones, SHS science teacher.  “Students may choose to find outside assistance from mentors or college professors, but the work is done entirely on their own time.”
