Pit bulls offered for adoption Saturday

MADEIRA, OH (FOX19) - Pet supply store Pet Wants North and Adore-A-Bull Rescue are hosting an adoption event from 1pm-5pm this Saturday.  

According to Elisabeth Mayer, owner of Pet Wants, the Pit Bull is the most misunderstood breeds of dogs in America:  “Pit Bulls are actually wonderful human companions.  It was once nicknamed the ‘nanny dog’ for its affection and devotion to children.

Award lets Bond Hill baker boast of best buns

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Klosterman Baking Company recently won first place in the Best Premium Bun Gold Cup annual competition with a score of 95.66 out of a possible 100. The company has received a traveling trophy to display in their bakery for one year. 

The Best Premium Bun Gold Cup is an award that is issued annually by independent bakery cooperative The Long Company. More than 70 participating wholesale bakeries sent premium bread samples to the Long Co. for scoring by a technical services staff, who rates samples for qualities such as crust thickness and color, interior grain and uniformity of cell structure, flavor, aroma and general eating qualities. 

Bond Hill-based Klosterman won the award last month in an event at the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago.

Holiday shopping benefit offers wine and chic

SYMMES TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A holiday shopping and wine tasting event scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd will bring together various vendors to benefit the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.  The Sip and Shop Holiday Market will be held at Neal’s Design and Remodel in Symmes Township, and will include a wine tasting option, with wines from Obryan’s Wine & State Liquor Agency.   

For a $20 donation, patrons may sample 4 wine selections, or may sample 2 wines for a $10 donation.  The event’s shopping portion will include vendors selling jewelry, clothing, candles, food, art, crafts, and other miscellaneous gift items.  There will also be raffles and grab bags available. 

The Sip and Shop Holiday Market will benefit the fundraising efforts of members of Team Challenge Southwest Ohio, the half marathon training and fundraising program that benefits the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.  Participants in Team

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - All community members are invited to attend the 12th annual Sycamore Arts and Crafts Show at Sycamore High School, 7400 Cornell Road, on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. to purchase unique art work and local crafts from more than 190 vendors and artists.

Kroger provides details, asks you to check for recalled beef products

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Kroger Co. stores in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas are asking customers to check their refrigerators and freezers for 5 lb. chub Kroger Ground Beef 73% Lean 27% Fat and Kroger Beef Patties with a "best before or freeze by" date of September 12, 2011. 

This ground beef is part of a recall announced by Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. 

Kroger customers can visit www.kroger.com/recall for the list of products subject to the recall sold in Kroger’s family of stores. The Tyson website lists all of the affected products and retailers. 

Kroger has removed affected items from store shelves and initiated its customer recall notification system. Customers who may have purchased the affected products will receive register receipt messages and/or automated phone calls.

KENWOOD, OH (FOX19) - The Disney Store will celebrate the opening of the newly designed store at Kenwood Towne Center on Wednesday, August 31. Kenwood Towne Center is one of many newly designed Disney Stores to open in 2011. The first 250 guests who attend the public celebration will receive free Mickey Mouse ears.

The new Disney Store offers a one-of-a-kind, interactive and magical experience for Disney fans of all ages. Disney Store’s new design concept aims to deliver “the best 30 minutes of a child’s day” through immersive experiences including a Disney Princess with Magic Mirror, Translucent Trees, Disney●Pixar CARS-branded Ridemakerz experience and the Disney Store Theatre featuring the latest Disney entertainment.

With each new store opening in 2011, Disney Store will donate 10 percent of the first day’s sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the United States.
