Henke Winery holds wine-tasting Sunday

SYMMES TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Henke Winery will hold a wine-tasting event Sunday, August 21 from 1-4 p.m. at the Harper's Point Kroger.

While that may not sound like the most exciting setting for a wine tasting, it may be for the people at the Westwood winery: beginning Sunday, Henke wines will be available at the Harper's Point Kroger.

The store is located at 11390 Montgomery Road in Symmes Township.

PWC running third in Home Depot contest

CINCINNATI (FOX19)-  Bond Hill-based People Working Cooperatively is asking the Tri-State to vote daily now through August 31 to help win $25,000 from the Home Depot Foundation.

People Working Cooperatively, a local nonprofit that provides critical home repairs, modifications and weatherization services for elderly low-income people, is competing in The Home Depot Foundation Aprons in Action Facebook contest.

PWC is competing against three other nonprofits across the country for $25,000 in gift cards from The Home Depot. More than one week into the voting, PWC is in third place. 

Should PWC win the nonprofit plans to use the funds on critical home repairs and modifications for low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners in the 20 counties it serves. The winner will be determined by the number of votes secured throughout the month of August.

The voting is open to all registered Facebook users through Noon on Wednesday, Aug.

LOUISVILLE, KY (FOX19) - Every dog has its day, including America’s favorite summertime snack, the hot dog.  Louisville-based Thorntons will salute this quintessential all-American taste treat on its much-deserved day of recognition, ‘National Hot Dog Day’, with a 40¢ hot dog special.

Thus, two dogs and your choice of topping are available for lunch, all for under a dollar.  Two is as many as you can have, because that's the limit per customer.

They will serve Ball Park® franks at all participating Thorntons locations from 10 a.m.

SYMMES TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19)  - Tackle Trade Days will be hosted by Lake Isabella on two Saturdays, July 9 and October 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.   A variety of new and used vintage lures, rods, reels and more will be available for the experienced and amateur angler.

Tackle Trade Days will showcase local fishing equipment vendors in a flea-market style setting.  Anglers are sure to find that right fishing pole or lure from the large selection of bargain gear.

Any dealers or individuals who would like to sell their gently used fishing gear are asked to call the Lake Isabella boathouse at (513) 791-1663 to reserve a spot.

Tackle Trade Days is free and open to the public. Lake Isabella is located at 10174 Loveland-Madeira Road. A valid Hamilton County Park District Motor Vehicle Permit ($10.00 annual; $3.00 daily) is required to enter the parks.

Local Post Office Introduces Automated Postal Centers

LOVELAND, OH (FOX19) - Customers visiting the Loveland Post Office can now experience the Postal Service's version of the ATM while delivering quick, easy and convenient access to postal services.

"APCs - Automated Postal Centers - provide easy access to postal products and services just as ATMs provide easy access to banking services," said Bob Redden, Loveland Postmaster. "To customers, one is a self-service bank, while the other is a self-service Post Office.

Shop at the eighty-family community yard sale

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - CAA's Fourth Annual Big Top Yard Sale and Head Start Enrollment Event  Food and drinks will be available. There will be plenty of kid-friendly activities, including a bouncy house, face painting, and firefighters from Engine No.8 in Pleasant Ridge. Everfresh Juice will also be on-site providing samples.  Families will have the opportunity to enroll 3 and 4 year-olds in CAA's Head Start program for the 2011-2012 school year. Health screenings will also be available for enrollees. Head Start provides preschool education for children from low-income families. 

When: Saturday, June 18, 2011 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Fresh Market stores all over the U.S. are offering free cooking demonstrations in July. 

Guests are invited to drop in any time during the event and learn how to prepare Tropical Grilled Shrimp with Curried Yogurt Sauce and Zesty Lemon, Fennel & Feta Salad.

Becky Long is the chef demonstrating the recipes at the two local stores.  She will be at the Oakley Store at 3088 Madison Road on July 16 from 3pm-6pm and at the Kenwood store at 7888 Montgomery Road in Sycamore Township from 3pm-6pm on July 23.
