Improvement project on I-71 scheduled to begin Monday

Improvement project on I-71 scheduled to begin Monday

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Work to improve the interchange of Interstate 71 and Pfeiffer Road to greatly enhance travel during peak commute periods is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 7.  The I-71/ Pfeiffer interchange serves major regional employment centers in Montgomery and Blue Ash.

The project will improve travel in several ways:

Northbound access onto I- 71 from eastbound Pfeiffer Road will move more vehicles quickly through dual, dedicated left-turn lanes; a new auxiliary lane will facilitate travel from Pfeiffer Road via northbound I-71 directly to the I-275 exit. Also, motorists entering I-71 northbound from Pfeiffer Road will no longer need to merge into through-lanes on I-71 if they are connecting to I-275.  This dedicated lane will greatly benefit all motorists traveling on northbound I-71 by substantially reducing the current volume of traffic merging from Pfeiffer’s entrance ramp.

Lane closures coming to Madison, Ridge Roads

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Motorists can expect lane closures on two roads that are part of the City of Cincinnati’s Kennedy Connector project.  The curb lane of westbound Madison Road will close on Monday, December 17 and the curb lane of southbound Ridge Road will close on Wednesday, December 19.

Wednesday’s closure of the lane on Ridge's approach to Ibsen Avenue will take place for three days.  Construction crews will be adding pavement to the new turn lane from southbound Ridge to Ibsen.  The turn lane was made possible by the rerouting of Ibsen.

On Monday, the curb lane of westbound Madison will be closed between Steel Place and Ridge.  That closure is expected to last for about two weeks as work is done to add new pavement that eventually will connect Madison to the new Kennedy Connector that is the major focus of this project.

Madison Road lane restrictions, homes and businesses connected to new water main

Madison Road lane restrictions, homes and businesses connected to new water main

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Starting sometime this week, homes and businesses will be connected to a new water main that has been recently constructed on beneath Madison Road. The constructing will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. which may require lanes to be restricted.  At least one lane will be open for traffic.

Contractors will try to minimize the noise levels around residential neighborhoods by replacing metals plates over holes with asphalt, although some plates may be used.  Once homes are connected to the water main, there will be an interruption in water service.  Residents will be notified prior to the water being shut off.

The construction on Madison is part of the Kennedy Connector Project, which will build a new extension of Kennedy Avenue that will connect Duck Creek Road and Madison Road.  The project’s goals are to improve traffic flow, safety, and provide an increase in economic growth.
