Spending Mega Millions prize may be no easy task

Spending Mega Millions prize may be no easy task

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - If you should happen to win the upcoming Mega Millions jackpot, and your goal is to use up all the money as fast as possible, you might want to move out of town.

If you are simply determined to dispose of the money, that's no problem.  You could donate it all to a leading university or hospital.  You could gamble it away around the world.  You could give it away a million at a time to people you met in bars.  If you asked a luxury shipbuilder to use it all on a yacht, they could oblige you.  You could buy the City of Cincinnati a streetcar system.

On the other hand, if you go shopping around the Tri-State at advertised prices, you might find that the money, which is an estimated $198.2 million if taken in cash, goes a long way.

We looked for a group of mostly Cincinnati-area items that a person could buy, and found it hard to use up the money.  For starters, we added up the price of the 50 most-expensive homes c

Suspect's ankle was his Achilles' heel.

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A smash-and-grab robbery that caused electric lights to explode in a shower of sparks has been solved, and the suspect's ankle provided the proof.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says 39-year-old Adrian Irby was picked up Wednesday night after an investigation that took off after tips started coming in when surveillance video was shown at the end of August.

The Sheriff's Office says Irby, who lives in an area of townhouses on Bising Avenue in North College Hill, smashed through the front door glass at the Thoma and Sutton Eyecare in Kenwood with a wooden two-by-four, then went to a locked case contianing high-end eyeglass, and destroyed it.

The impact sent the glass from the case all over the place, while destroying the lighting, which died in a shower of sparks.  The sheriff's office says Irby then dumped all the glasses frames into a basket he had brought with him, and fled the store.
